Frequently Asked Questions
What do you charge?
For individuals, my fee is $175 for a 50-minute session. Sometimes, clients find that a longer session works better for them, and I am open to discussing a longer session at a higher fee. For couples, my fee is $225 for a 50-minute session. However, I strongly recommend 90-minute sessions initially to be sure that each person has time to be heard. My fee for a 90-minute couples session is $300.
I do offer reduced fees on a sliding scale and on a limited basis for individuals and couples who cannot afford my full rate. I accept checks, cash, and credit cards and I ask for payment at the beginning of each session.
Do you take insurance?
No, I am currently not in-network with any insurance companies. I can provide you with a Superbill at the end of each month, which will show how many times you’ve seen me, what you’ve paid, and a medical diagnosis (insurance companies require a diagnosis). I encourage you to check with your insurance company to be clear on what benefits they offer for out-of-network providers.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that you give me at least 24-hours notice if you cannot come to your scheduled session. If you miss a session without 24-hours notice, I will charge you the full fee for the missed session.
Do you see people in person or via telehealth?
Both! I see clients online in California and in the office in the Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks area for clients who would like in-person session. Some clients select a hybrid of both online and in-person depending on their schedule.
Do you see children?
My practice focuses on adult clients. I do, however, work with parents, helping them with parenting, boundary setting, and self-care. In addition I am trained in SPACE - Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions which is a parent-directed, research-informed treatment for childhood anxiety and OCD developed at the Yale Child Study Center.
How will I know you are the right therapist for me?
Schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your therapy needs and goals. Together, we can determine if I'm the right therapist for you. If not, I can help you find someone who is better suited to your needs.
How long will I need therapy?
The truth is, it all depends on you. It generally takes a session or two to really dive into what’s going on in your life. Typically, if you come with a specific problem, we can identify a solution. Once you implement that solution, then you’ve reached your therapy goal, and you’re done. However, what often occurs in therapy is that you come to realize that the issue that brought you to therapy is complex and multi-layered. Relatively soon, you get past the surface layer and you start to delve into what’s below the surface, and then the work continues from there. Sometimes new issues can emerge along the way.
What I can definitively tell you is that I will do all I can to help you reach the resolution you seek when you come to therapy. If I feel I am not the right person to do that, I will let you know. I will not try to keep you in therapy when you’re ready to stop. Also, I will welcome you back should you ever want to return.
